Habitat: Mt. Lewis in Northeast Queensland, Australia; up to 1,200m elevation. 

Notes:  The same genus as the common “King palm”, however this species has a beautiful purple crownshaft, larger seeds, and more cold tolerance. 

Cold Hardiness: Its relatively high elevation in habitat gives it a chance in cooler climates. Perhaps the most frost resistant member of the genus.
