Conservation
This is a robust and widespread palm that can recover from fires and is protected by thorns on nearly all its parts. That being said, the natural areas that this palm calls home are under constant threat from deforestation and cattle ranching outside of the protected areas established by each country’s government. These areas can change at any moment if an incoming politician decides to abuse the natural resources.
