Dypsis sp. 'aff. thiryana'

palm DATA

Habitat: Madagascar

Notes:  A mysterious and wonderful undescribed species that immediately captures the heart of plant enthusiasts with its maximum flair in a tiny package. The solitary stem is no wider than a pencil but holds a fuzzy red-orange crownshaft with upright dark green leaves and irregularly spaced groupings of leaflets. The affinity to thiryana comes from the praemorse/tridentate leaflet tips, which is not seen in many Dypsis species.

Cold Hardiness: Needs more testing but probably prefers Tropical / Subtropical Climates
