Palms are not picky, but a well drained media is recommended. Coarse sand, fine volcanic rock, wood chips and perlite are recommended soil additives to improve aeration.

If the palm is attached to the seed, do not use any fertilizer. Some people use a plastic coated heat or time released fertilizer mixed in with the media upon planting but less fertilizer is best. Do not use quick release fertilizer!

We recommend drenching with a light mix of root fungicide upon planting. Use at half-strength. A liquid root stimulant is recommended, using a product which contains humic acid and B vitamins, which helps your palm metabolize nutrition and build strong roots.

Upon special requests, however our business is growing plants from seed.

Community pots are used to germinate most of our seeds. Seedling indicates that the plant is taken from a community pot. 4″, 1-gallon or larger indicates the pot size in which the plant is growing.

We raise 300+ varieties which have varying growth rates. Most 1-gallon palms are 8″-12″ of plant with a larger caliper stem base than 4″ sizes.

After the order is packed and weighed, we determine the carrier shipping cost. We do not add any handling surcharge.

We charge for the cost of the box, sphagnum moss, insulation (in winter) and netting sleeves used in packing. We do not add surcharges to actual packing material costs. Cost will vary by order size.
